Tiling and zooming is a solved problem on the web with numerous libraries and systems. However, things aren't quite as mature on iOS. In this talk we'll examine the tiling and zooming implementation in ARTiledImageView and take a quick look at how we can practically use this in a range of applications, from indoor and outdoor mapping to, more usefully, spreading our love for ASCII art.
Daniel Doubrovkine (aka dB.) is a technology manager, entrepreneur and open-source cheerleader. In the 90s, he was the second person in college to own a cellphone (a first edition Motorolla Startac) and spent a years attempting to place a single phone call on an employer-provided Samsung flip that ran every beta of Windows CE. Despite all that, it took him almost 20 years to begin actually programming handheld devices. He's now primarily focusing on iOS development at a New York startup, Artsy.

JOOR has built a new iPad app for wholesale buyers, and it's already reshaping the fashion industry. In the fashion world, images and their associated metadata drive usage.
This talk will describe the challenges faced in supporting 'offline usage' for a media-rich, Wi-Fi-scarce, and data heavy app.
Part of the solution has been to revise how the team approaches API dependencies, both in the app and the APIs themselves. The team has also changed its approach to development, to ensure it can scale new features with ease. They'll touch upon some new solutions they've been working on that allow users new ways to manage and view their data.
