Announcing a new Meetup for East Side Investor's Business Daily Meetup Group!

What: February Meeting,Thursday Feb19th-RSVP Now!!

When: February 19,[masked]:45 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Hello New Members and Veterans

I have had trouble getting away from the drama in Washington DC surrounding the economic crisis and the related stock and other financial markets actions. The market is technically in a confirmed rally but one which remains under pressure. Few opportunities exist to trade even very short rallies in the few leading stocks breaking out of bases or bouncing off moving average resistance. I remain in cash and watch for evidence that stocks will trade on anything but the daily news. Earnings season is nearing the end and the broad framework for new government assistance to the economy is out. That sets us up for something other than the range bound market that we have endured for two months.

The market is is trading primarily on technicals and volatility which is characteristic of a bear market. We can go over a strategy to trade with moderate risk at the meeting.

I found some very interesting new interactive charts that compare the index performance before, during and after famous recessions and the related bear and bull markets. I ran out of time at the January meeting to review them with the group. I will present my current market analysis and try to blend those interactive charts into the presentation. The Investors corner is currently featuring some excellent articles related to the fundamentals of trading, reading charts and the market. We may have time to touch on a couple of the principles . I hope others in the group will share what is or is not working for for them.

Most importantly, I have scheduled the next two combined area IBD Meetup Outreach meetings for March 3 and April 7 at Amates in Lynnwood. Please get these dates on your calendar and start promoting the meetings to your friends and relatives now. The speaker is from the Santa Monica HQ of IBD. He will pick up where he left off at the meeting in November. I will post the details on the website as soon as I figure out how to schedule more than one meeting at a time. Watch your e-mail for a special e-mail and get the dates on your calendar.

Again, please RSVP your intentions. Newer attendees see below the signature line for more information especially for you about about how we conduct the meeting.

Below is information particularly helpful for those of you considering attendance for the first time.

What we do in the meeting-

The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:45 pm but I usually have the doors open by 6:00 pm. You are welcome to come early to socialize or network with others in the group. We need help setting up tables and chairs before the meeting and tearing them down and stowing them at the end of the meeting. Your help is appreciated.

The meeting usually begins with introductions and a listing of questions or topics members of the group want covered at the meeting. I will present a stock market review. I will be prepared to discuss my recent and current stock picks. I am inviting other members who use the CANSLIM research methodology to help too.

You are invited to share your CANSLIM stock picks or ideas from your holdings or watch list for analysis at the meeting as well. We usually have a special presentation on some basic and advanced IBD portfolio management techniques. I always try to leave you with one or more stocks that I think may turn out to be a good investment in the next few days.

Some of you will want to participate in the discussion, and we encourage it ,but you may also just listen. I f you would like to send me questions or topics you wish covered at the meeting in advance please send them to me by e-mail.

Anyone interested in sharpening their investing knowledge and skill should attend. Newcomers are always welcome. I suggest you look at some of the basic educational materials free at or jump into William O'Neils books ,How to Make Money In Stocks and the The Successful Investor, in order to avoid being lost at the beginning of the meeting. As time goes on,you will learn advanced stock picking, trading and portfolio management techniques. You will also meet others who are trying to be their own portfolio manager or independent trader.
