Public Speaking: How to be heard and remembered

Don’t tell them what you’re going to tell them…Grab their attention first, then give content. ~ Alan Hoffler
It doesn't matter if your audience is a client, project team, group or even a family member - what you say and how you say it creates their experience with you. But how do you create engaging content that connects with people? Where do you start?

Join us to hear Alan Hoffler explain how to craft and deliver your message. Alan is a trainer, speaker, consultant and public speaking coach at MillsWyck Communications (http://www.millswyck.com/) in Cary.
Alan was raised around America’s Space Program. He earned degrees in aerospace engineering and applied mathematics, then discovered a passion for helping others communicate effectively.
For the last 20 years, he has trained technical corporate audiences, taught in public schools and college classrooms, and spoken nationally to pilots about flying safety. He believes that communication has the power to change a person, an organization, a community and the world.
During his presentation, you will learn a technique for crafting any presentation. He will focus on the key elements that give your audience a reason to listen.
You will learn how to:
• create organized and compelling content
• create content to fit any time allotment – from 30 seconds to 3 days
• create buckets of information that allow you to put information, data, stories and humor in the proper place and drive your audience to action
• go beyond the typical five bullets and bucket of dust.
Alan will also give examples and ideas for enlivening your next presentation.
You can also visit his blog (http://www.millswyck.com/blog/), where he identifies solutions to common communication foibles. His writing highlights his analytical eye and desire to improve himself as well as his clients.
When Alan isn’t speaking or training others, he is active in his professional organization and local church. He also enjoys the privileges of his commercial pilot’s license.
Alan’s most challenging training endeavor - raising two children - is also his most enjoyable. It formed the basis for writing his recently published book (http://www.amazon.com/Steps-Forward-Every-Man-Matters/dp/1499168799/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398466921&sr=8-1&keywords=6+steps+forward), 6 Steps Forward: Every Man Matters, a humorous, fictional account of one man's journey toward his legacy. Alan co-authored the book with his brother.
