Why: meetup subscription, flyers, lobbying materials, events

Work with us to establish a U.S. Cabinet Level Dept of Peace and Nonviolence and BE the peace through focused action to create a peaceful nation, and world! There is a bill in Congress (HR808) that we're working to make law... and lobbying for a Senate introduction of the same bill! Meet other local peace-minded people to talk about nonviolent means to resolve differences including a soon-to-be formed learning group for Nonviolent Communication (NVC).

Visit our national website at: http://thepeacealliance.org for more information!
Visit our local website at: http://iedopna.blogspot.com

Our regular monthly meeting is the 3rd Saturday of each month, though there are many opportunities to meetup throughout the month. MEETUP events are either hosted by us, cohosted or part of the national campaign. Other notes and events are posted as "of interest" to peacebuilders!

As part of a national effort to establish a Dept. of Peace, there are two monthly conference calls available for volunteers.
- “All-volunteer” conference call held the first Tuesday of each month
- “Nonviolent Communication” conference call held the last Thursday of each month

(see www.thepeacealliance.org for more details and/or date changes due to holidays)

Through this campaign we are proclaiming that Peace is possible with the right tools, intention, and knowledge; that nonviolent solutions can be found within nearly any conflict. Thus, we are FOR Peace... not AGAINST anything. We stand for equality, compassion, justice, inclusion and in solidarity towards peace, and not to perpetuate any kind of divisiveness. When you attend any event -- remember -- as Gandhi said, "We must BE the CHANGE we wish to see in the world." Be the PEACE.

-------------------------------------------

This is a grassroots civic-oriented effort to establish a Dept. of Peace. We are volunteers, and are looking for volunteers to help with the campaign.

What can YOU do?

- Join our group (www.meetup.com/iedopna)
- Attend our next meeting, event, or campaign action day
- Write a letter to the editor
- Share campaign information with friends, family members, and more
- Learn more about the bill
- Join the discussion to clearly articulate the bill to gain the broadest support possible!
- Find organizations that would benefit from a Dept. of Peace and share info with them.
- Get organizational endorsements
- Contribute your time or money or both to our local campaign
- Attend meetings with elected officials, help us gather support for the legislation at all levels of government—local, statewide, and nationally
- CALL AND WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMEMBERS
- SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN with contributions to the national campaign.

Local contributions from members ($12 a year) help to pay for this site, meeting and event supplies, and more. Contributions to our national campaign (one-time or monthly) help fund the campaign with a few paid staff to support the volunteer efforts, to maintain the website, plan and conduct training events, conferences and teleconferences, coordinate lobbying days, and maintain a peace presence in Washington DC with a very small office.

If you have any questions, please send an email to one of the organizers and we'll make every attempt to get back to you in a timely manner! Thanks for visiting, for joining, for being a Peace person!

Everyone seemed nice and peaceful just what I expected. Good times

I've experienced a conference call and a couple meetings. It is nice being in the company of people who want to make a positive difference and include everyone.
