Film Fans -
It is movie season!!! Studios are releasing all their heavy hitters for Oscar consideration so the next month is going to be crazy with great films to see. I wanted to give you an idea of what we'll be going to see and what we won't - so you'll know what to see on your own and what to see with the group. I wish I could schedule an event for every film I want to see, but its just not possible, so... here's what I hope to have events for in January and what I won't. I encourage you to see the other films on your own.
Biutiful - This film looks A-Mazing! I can not wait for it to be released! There's a lot of conflicting info on the Internet, but know that when its released I will schedule an event. Check out the link here. Big buzz for Javier Barden and same director a Babel and 21 Grams. http://www.biutiful-themovie.com/#
The Way Back - Chronicles the escape of a small group of multi-national prisoners from a Siberian gulag in 1940 and their epic life affirming journey over thousands of miles across five hostile countries. This is directed by the awesome Peter Weir (Master & Commander, Dead Poets Society, Witness, & The Truman Show) and stars Colin Farrell & Ed Harris among others. I want to see this story brought to life on the big screen - cinematography and sweeping 5 country landscape should be amazing! http://thewaybackthemovie.com/
Some films that folks have expressed an interest in that will be out in January (or already are out) that we will not have events for are The King's English, Blue Valentine, All Good Things, Rabbit Hole, and Somewhere. I encourage you to see all these films - some you can even see on Comcast On Demand.
February also has some great openings but we'll hold off for now on discussing those. Also, our annual Oscar party will be coming up! We will be doing a pot luck, have games, etc and I'm looking to schedule it at the club house we used for this first one. There will be a small fee ($5-$10) for this event depending on the rental cost.
Thanks everyone and enjoy this time of great movies!
