todo-django: Now With Awesome API's and Tantalizing Task Queues

Build bullet-proof REST APIs with Tastypie

Heard about these new-fangled "REST APIs"? Wondering how you can get some of that action?

Come let Evan Hazlet wrinkle your brain with an intro to using Django-Tastypie to easily build REST APIs without the fuss. He'll convince us that Tastypie makes APIs easy. As a demo, he built an API for the famous Python Web Shootout todo-django project.

Scale expensive jobs with Celery and Jobtastic

Slow pages getting you down? Web server creaking under load? Tired of users refreshing the page and re-running that 250MB CSV export?

Wes Winham will learn us on using Celery, the distributed task queue, to push expensive tasks outside of the request/response cycle. He'll also show us how to use Jobtastic to make your user-facing tasks much more awesome. As a demo, he added an "All Tasks" CSV export to the famous todo-django project.

Meet fellow Djangonauts

We'll also have pizza and soda and maybe some news from around the Django/Python/Web world. The official meetup will finish up promptly at 8pm, but feel free to stick around and conversate with your fellow Djangonauts. The talks are just a tool to facilitate our meeting, anyway.

Help shape IndyDjango

Interested in speaking at a future IndyDjango? You should be! It's a great opportunity to expand your knowledge in a friendly environment. We'll help you come up with topics and provide as much support as you'd like. If you're at all interested, drop a line to Wes or Evan.

Want to help organize? Help with the website and video recording? Have suggestions? It's your meetup! Let's make it happen.
