Internet of Things Meetup 2
Details
Happy New Year!
Is 2014 (as some people are claiming) going to be the year of IoT? Who knows, but it's definitely something worth chatting about more. To that end, it's high time we arranged our second meetup.
We're moving venues (more for simplicity than anything else) and holding this month's meetup at DoES Liverpool. Still in the city centre, but the other side of Liverpool One. See http://doesliverpool.com/location/ if you need more details to find it.
We're still finalising the main talk, but wanted to get the date pinned down. There'll be interesting people to chat to, and I (Adrian) would like to spend a bit of time chatting about how the meetups could/should work in the future, or discussing what people are interested in. We'll send an update once the main talk is confirmed.
Update: Patrick Fenner (http://www.deferredprocrastination.co.uk/) will be talking about the Internet of Toys, looking at how technology and connectivity can enable new possibilities for play, and explaining his explorations in the area.
We'll kick the talks off at 7pm, but feel free to turn up any time from 6 onwards for pre-talks chatting/networking.
6h00 Doors open - nosh and natter
7h00 Intro
7h05 Adrian McEwen - Meetup Ideas
7h20 Patrick Fenner - Internet of Toys
7h40 Networking
8h30 Repair to The Hub for drinks
Food/drink: We haven't got a sponsor for beer/pizza/etc., so it's bring a bottle as DoES doesn't have a licence. It does have a kitchen with a microwave though, so if you're coming straight from work and want to bring something to eat here feel free (if you get here around 6 you'll probably catch me doing the same :-)
