PANEL – Premium .nyc Domain Names & Public Interest Commitments

On Thursday December 18 2014 the Internet Society New York Chapter (http://isoc-ny.org/) (ISOC-NY) and Connecting .nyc (http://connectingnyc.org/) will present a panel – Premium .nyc Domain Names & Public Interest Commitments (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1P4YsXMDbKlWIRGGIDPNDxOdOFVvr6xKLZmfg2DfMuUs/edit?usp=sharing) which will consider whether major generic .nyc domain names such as hotels.nyc, news.nyc, pizza.nyc, schools.nyc & sports.nyc should have public interest conditions attached to their operation? Or should they, as planned, be sold to the highest bidder for whatever purpose they fancy? Confirmed panelists: Avri Doria, ISOC-NY; Gabriel Levitt, V.P. Pharmacychecker.com; Thomas Lowenhaupt, Connecting.nyc Inc., a representative of the Mayor’s Office, and perhaps someone from the city's .nyc contractor Neustar. This will all happen at the BLIP Clinic Dumbo Outpost and there will be live webcast via the Internet Society Webcast Channel.
