feStivale 2010

All three films will be shown this Thursday at MoPA starting at 7:00. Director Alberto Massarese joins us to introduce his film.

Peppino Impastato, Giuseppe Malpasso & Michele Truglio  (Time 50 min.) Documentary

This documentary, a follow-up to the film I Cento Passi (One Hundred Steps), concludes our anti-Mafia series.

Giuseppe "Peppino" Impastato was a political activist in the small town of Cinisi, in the province of Palermo. He used humor and satire as his weapon against the Mafia. In his popular daily radio program Onda pazza (Crazy Wave) he mocked politicians and mafiosi alike.

A pena do pana (The cost of bread), Lucia Grillo, (time 18 min.) Documentary

This film tells the charming story of nine year old Mariuzzedda, a young girl who goes to work each day harvesting olives, and then off to school on an empty, grumbling tummy. She takes bread each day, on credit, at the local bakery. Until, finally, the baker must be paid.

No Place Like Oz, Alberto Massarese (Time 12 min.) Short Film

Dorothy Gale is a middle aged woman who suffers from some serious disorders. Dr. Gulch is trying to bring her back to reality but is her imagination stronger than her doctor's? Director Alberto Massarese will be at the theater to introduce his film and to talk afterwards with the audience.
