I received the message below from the AFS, a student-exchange organization: www.usa.afs.org
My name is Andrew, and I work with AFS Intercultural Programs.
We are looking for families all around the Seattle area to host
a student for the[masked] school year. They arrive in mid-
August for the school year, and we have several students who
are still in need of a family! We have a number of students
from all over the world who are coming to the United States to
share their culture and learn about ours; given your interest
in Italy, perhaps you or someone you know would like to be a
Host Family for one of these students. I am hoping that you
might be willing to pass this message along to the Italian
Language and Culture group.
If you are interested in more information about hosting, or
think that you may know someone who would make a great host
family, I would love to speak with you. We also have students
from all over the world that may still
need families, so share
the opportunity widely!
Host families provide support, meals and a bed to their student
and experiences with AFS often lead to life-long connections.
Host families can be of any shape or size - single people,
couples with our without kids, same sex couples, and people
with kids from 0 -100! We have been facilitating exchanges for
60 years, and one of the things that sets us apart is the
community and support you get while hosting and beyond. It
really does open your door to a whole new world!
AFS also appreciates the help of 'aunts' and 'uncles' to share
special times with students. We are also looking for
volunteers to act as liaisons who support our students, their
schools, and their host families. This is another great way to
be part of the AFS family within your community.
Thank you for your consideration, and if you would like to
more about this possibility, please call me at[masked]
ext. 1583. If you would prefer, you can contact Heidi Cook, our
local volunteer extraordinaire in the Seattle area. Her number
is (425) 643-3045.
All the best,
