IxDA Sydney Meetup, 2015 tech edition
Details
OK, apart from the usual awesomeness of pizza, beer (Supplied by the ever-generous crew from Atlassian) and conversation (Supplied by all of you), here's what you can expect to get from the first IxDA Sydney Chapter meeting for the bright young year that is 2015!
Sorry about the hassles with the date moving like that, but my friends at Atlassian (http://atlassian.com) have assured me we are locked in for every other fourth Thursday (https://www.meetup.com/ixda-sydney/) for the rest of the year. bows
Alongside announcements and discussion about what to expect from the new year in Interaction Design, we have two awesome speakers coming to discuss how technology and design combine for improved user experiences.
Benjamin Humphrey (https://twitter.com/humphreybc) will present his talk: An Engaging First Impression, where he dissects and discusses the research ad growth experiments that Atlassian uses in its tech products.
In this talk I explain the approach we are taking to improve our new user on-boarding experience at Atlassian. We run a mix of qualitative and quantitative research and then run growth experiments to determine the best on-boarding patterns to apply to our products like JIRA, Confluence, HipChat, Bitbucket, Stash, and more.
We also have Russ Weakley (https://twitter.com/russmaxdesign) who will be presenting and leading an open discussion about the line (or is it a continuum? a venn?) between developers and designers, and what we can learn from each other.
More deets to follow but in the meantime, do please remember we have an excellent discussion forum (https://www.meetup.com/ixda-sydney/messages/boards/) for you to let us know exactly what you think and what you'd like to see more of from IxDA Sydney.
See you on the second! Of Feb that is! 8-0
