Step into another world with professional photographers Jason Odell (http://www.luminescentphoto.com) and Deborah Sandidge (http://www.deborahsandidge.com). In the Badlands, you'll be able to explore fine-art landscape photography techniques, including monochrome, HDR, and long-exposures. On this trip, you'll be treated to some amazing sunrises and sunsets and rock formations that could be mistaken for the moon.
In addition to the photo shoots, you'll get detailed classroom instruction on color, black & white, infrared, and HDR photographic techniques by two leading outdoor photography experts. We will have several infrared-converted cameras for you to try out! You will also receive personal photo reviews and critique from Jason and Deborah.
When: June 7-11, 2015
Where: Wall, South Dakota (You will be emailed about the group hotel with discounted rates)
Nearest Airport: Rapid City, SD (RAP), about a 1.5 hour drive from Wall.
Workshop Fee: $1399 per photographer
Your Workshop Fee includes all field and classroom instruction and image critique/review sessions with Jason and Deborah.
Meals, lodging, and transportation to the field locations are not included in the workshop fee and are the responsibility of each individual. We have reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate in Wall, SD. Hotel details will be provided upon RSVP.

Itinerary (Subject to Change)
Sunday, June 7: Meet in hotel lobby at 4pm for orientation session, followed by group dinner in Wall.
Day 1: Sunrise at Pinnacles Overlook (TBD)/ Mid-day session: Composition techniques/Evening Shooting at Panorama Point
Day 2: Sunrise shooting session at Conata Basin overlook/ Mid-day session: HDR processing. Afternoon trip to the ghost town of Scenic, followed by evening shooting in the Badlands.
Day 3: Sunrise shooting at Pinnacles Overlook/Mid-day session: infrared and monochrome processing/ Sunset shooting at White River Overlook
Day 4: Sunrise at Door Trail followed by morning shoot at Prairie Homestead Historic Site. Evening location TBD. Workshop concludes at the end of evening shooting.
Friday, June 12th: Check-out and depart for home; no workshop activities on this day.
What to bring:
• DSLR Camera(s)
• Infrared converted camera (optional)
• Sturdy tripod with ball-head
• Locking remote release cord
• Standard zoom lens (24-70mm or equivalent)
• Telephoto zoom lens (70-200mm or equivalent)
• Super-wide zoom lens (16-35mm or equivalent)
• (Optional) Telephoto lens (300mm or longer)
• Laptop computer with software and card reader for image review/critique
• Solid Neutral Density Filters for long exposures (optional)

About the Instructors
Jason P. Odell (http://www.luminescentphoto.com)
Dr. Jason P. Odell is a creative outdoor photographer in Colorado, USA. He specializes in images of wildlife and landscapes presented with a creative flair. Jason's passion for photography started at a young age when his parents built a darkroom in their garage. Jason's interest in the outdoors and nature led him down the path of science, and he earned a doctorate in biology from the University of California Riverside.
Jason is probably best-known for his comprehensive imaging software guides, which he started publishing in 2006 at Luminescence of Nature Press (http://www.luminescentphoto.com/webstore/index.html). Jason's guides have taught thousands of photographers how to tackle software like Nikon's Capture NX2 and Nik Software's HDR Efex Pro. Jason's ability to present technical material clearly, without losing focus of the creative process is why his books and workshops are extremely popular with hobbyists and enthusiasts world-wide. Jason's work has been featured by Studio Photographer Magazine, Nik Software, and Tiffen, Inc.
Deborah Sandidge (http://blog.deborahsandidge.com/p/meet-deb.html)
Deborah Sandidge is a professional photographer who enjoys sharing her insight and creative ideas through workshops, seminars and writing. She is the author of Digital Infrared Photography, published by Wiley. As an instructor at BetterPhoto.com, Deborah teaches Enhancing Images and Creating Works of Art, Digital Infrared Photography, and will soon offer a new course on Creative Long Exposure Photography.
Deborah offers a wide variety of creative and technical skills in her workshops, classes, and seminars, making time spent with her educational and fun for all skill levels. She shares many innovative tips and techniques to inspire the photographer to create unique imagery through enhanced photography skills, and artistic image optimization. Deborah’s style of creating dramatic story-telling imagery reflects in her travels, and interaction with the people she meets. She has had the opportunity to photograph interesting people, unique architecture, and experience fascinating cultures in many countries throughout out the world. Deborah loves to blend travel and teaching, offering her expertise and insight to others through photography tours and workshops.
