Explore the magnificent summer wildflowers high in the Colorado Rockies July 20-23, 2016. From our base in Crested Butte, Colorado, we'll have easy access to some amazing views and fields of paintbrush, lupine, and columbines. We will capture both close-up (macro) images as well as scenic views of the mountains, streams and wildflowers.

This workshop is geared towards intermediate photographers or higher; you will be expected to have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of exposure and how to use your own camera(s).

*The instructional fee includes all field and classroom instruction and professional image critique. Lodging, meals and transportation to the field sites are the responsibility of participants.

You will learn

• Macro and close-up photography fundamentals, including gear and accessories

• Composition and exposure, including HDR

• Creative processing techniques

• We will also have image review sessions for feedback and critique

Nearest airports: Denver (DEN), Colorado Springs (COS) , Grand Junction, CO (GJT).

I have arranged for a block of discounted rooms at the group hotel in Crested Butte. I will provide booking instructions upon registration. You must book by May 20, 2016 to guarantee lodging at this rate.

We will travel to the field sites by car. 4WD is not required; most of the sites are accessible by normal dirt roads, but there can be potholes, so having a vehicle with good ground clearance will help.

• Macro lens or telephoto lens with close-up attachments (diopter/extension tubes)

• Wide-angle zoom lens (16-35mm or similar; optional)

• Remote release cable

• Graduated ND filters (optional)

• Reflector/diffuser (optional)

• Flash (optional)

• Rain cover/ground cloth
