During this talk, we will go through some of the features the JVM provides, focusing on the JIT compiler. By the end, you should have an idea on how to write JVM friendly code.

The great thing about garbage collection is that you don't have to care about memory management - in theory. Things are often messier in practice, and so it helps if you understand the wondrous and magical beast that is the GC. This talk will go through some of the garbage collection algorithms available in the JVM, and show how you can tune them for better performance.
