JavaScript Austin November 2012 Meetup

Details
Greetings :),
We will have our next Meetup at Capital Factory (701 Brazos St, Suite 1601) on Thursday, Nov 1st, at 7pm. Please join us for free food, drinks and some awesome tech talks.
Topic: Adding Application(s) to the Document - Why can't our websites be platforms for user applications? Join me for a discussion of Web Workers, Content Security Policies, IFrames, and LinkAPjs, a framework to tie them into a safe operating environment.
Speaker: Paul Frazee - Paul is an Austin web developer with a strong interest in interfaces and the effects of software architectures. He has spent the past six months researching tools to improve composability and encapsulation in the browser, and is now applying them toward a series of projects designed to give users more control over their web applications.
Topic: The Lambda Calculus and The Javascript - In this talk, I will introduce lambda calculus, explain how everything we do as functional programmers can be reduced to simple lambda calculs substitutions with no variables, no state and no types. This talk will explain concepts like, church numbers, currying and combinators (including the elusive Y-combinator). I will do this with examples done using Leisure ( https://github.com/zot/Leisure ), a lambda calculus engine written in Javascript and runnable in the browser or in NodeJS.
Speaker: Norman Richards - Norman is an independent consultant here in Austin, TX. He is the author of several books, including JBoss: A Developer's Notebook (O'Reilly) and XDoclet in Action (Manning). Norman is the co-organizer of the Austin Clojure Meetup, and his interest in Clojure has motivated his deep dive into functional programming.
We'd like to thank this month's sponsor, White Lion, for the beer and pizza!
White Lion is an established Web development shop with 17 years of experience in the business. They build custom sites with LAMP/Kohana and are hiring experienced developers. Check them out here: wlion.com (http://wlion.com/)
