Beyond JavaScript: Working with Python, PHP, Ruby, and Go

As the web’s reach expands, so does JavaScript’s -- from desktop to mobile, to watches, cars, and robotics. While universal JavaScript can eliminate the need for a different back-end language, the vast majority of the time we’re working with a great stew of languages and technologies.

In this talk, Josh will go over new and existing architecture patterns where JavaScript is working in concert with other systems, while surveying the specific technologies in play, including:

WordPress and Drupal
Django, Rails, and Symfony
Flask, Sinatra, Silex, and Goji

In the end, you’ll leave equipped with the knowledge to play with some new architectures and frameworks. Moreover, you’ll have a better sense of what’s happening in web development at large and JavaScript’s place in all of that.
