How many times have you been working on a site only to find that a plugin would be a perfect solution? You search through the JED and google and what you want doesn't exist. Major downer.
Never fear, you too can learn to build a custom plugin extension for Joomla. As follow up to the Intro to PHP meetup in March, Mike Pearl will take us through building a custom content plugin for Joomla 2.5.
The prerequisites (meaning to do them before you arrive) for this meetup are the same as the previous meetup done by Mike and they are:
Have a basic, working knowledge of html and css Your laptop with you ready to use Have Oracle's FREE VirtualBox (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/downloads/index.html) installed on your laptop Have Basewind's FREE Joomla Developers Workstation (http://www.basewind.com/extensions/joomla-developer-vm) (the top link 4.30 single file) - if you're daring, import it into VirtualBox Find instructions for importing the Joomla Developers Workstation into VirtualBox at the bottom of the page at http://www.basewind.com/extensions/joomla-developer-vm This is a hands on meetup where you will create a real plugin and customize it to really function.
Some food will be provided.
