SFJS #15: jQuery, JS Mobile and Paul Irish on HTML5
Details
Our 15th meetup is going to be jam packed with goodies, and due to the venue our number of attendees will be restricted. Please sign up only if you can attend!
Matt Kelly from Zurb (http://www.zurb.com) will present on Interaction Design Engineering for JavaScript
Learning interaction design is like learning to dance. It's all about communication. And the only way you get better is practice, with a lot of different partners. In dancing and design, experience cannot be measured in years, but rather how much deliberate practice you commit yourself to in those years. It's going to be painful, but you are going to get better. Dancing by yourself is fun, but to everyone else, you just look silly.
Bill Fisher from Hot Studio (http://www.hotstudio.com) will present Getting the Native Feel: JavaScript for Mobile and Tablet Web Apps
Bill will present his jQuery plugin for managing touch events (on GitHub -- still putting the finishing touches on this), and review some other libraries, some optimizations (like hardware acceleration), etc.
Paul Irish from Google (http://www.google.com) will present on The State of HTML5, Summer 201
Paul will discuss the current available feature set in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and other fun shiny toys. He'll discuss where we are with browser adoption and dig into the best ways to enhance user experiences through these features today. Paul will take a practical and cross-browser friendly approach that covers all browsers and reviews topics like feature detection, polyfills, and page performance.
Food and drink will be sponsored by Hot Studio (http://www.hotstudio.com/)
