Sheehan Olver: ApproxFun.jl

Details
Prof. Sheehan Olver, who will be visiting from the University of Sydney (http://www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/olver/), will present ApproxFun.jl (https://github.com/dlfivefifty/ApproxFun.jl), a Julia package for approximating functions and solving differential equations on one and two dimensional domains. Find out how Julia's language features can be used to express advanced mathematical ideas.
Please note our earlier than usual start time of 6pm.
Location: Seminar Room D463 (Star)
Directions: Enter the Stata Center from the entrance to the Dreyfoos Tower (on Vassar Street next to Building 36, RLE). Take the elevator to the 4th floor. Proceed through the doors on the right, and take another right after the pool table and staircase.
Non-MIT visitors: please note that the doors lock promptly at 6pm.
Video streaming and recording: yes, we'll finally try to make this happen! Check CSAIL's Replay (https://replay.csail.mit.edu) website.
Prof. Olver will also be presenting more mathematical aspects of his work in RandomMatrices.jl (http://github.com/jiahao/RandomMatrices.jl) at the MIT Applied Math Colloquium (http://events.mit.edu/scripts/event_ext.pl?event=15946982&location=http://math.mit.edu/news/&groupid=2861&type=php) in E17-122 on Monday, November 24 at 5:00 pm.
