Rivers Alive Cleanup In Roswell- Garrard to Island Ford Paddle Cleanup

Details

NO MORE FREE BOATS LEFT AS OF 9-12-14. You can being your own boat or help with shore based cleanup.

Here is a great opportunity to represent the paddling community and thank the City of Roswell for the awesome Chattahoochee River access they provide. We will be helping the City of Roswell during their Rivers Alive Cleanup day on Saturday September 27th, 2014 by cleaning the Garrard Landing to Island Ford section.

I will provide free kayaks to the first 10 people who sign up and request a boat. Everyone else is welcome but will have to provide their own boats. I am sure there will be opportunities to walk some and clean up the trails.

Here are additional details for this event :

Plan to arrive at Garrard Landing no later than 8 AM to unload boats and gear. I will be there by 7:30AM. All drivers will then drive their vehicles to Island Ford and park there. We are trying to work out some free parking at Island Ford for our group but in the event that does not work out there will be a $3.00 parking fee per vehicle. The city of Roswell is providing a shuttle bus to bring all drivers back to the put in so everyone's car will be waiting for them at the take out after the cleanup. Please make sure that you have RSVPed on either the AAP site or Kayak Lessons for Beginners site so we have an accurate estimate for the size bus we will need.

The goal is to be on river promptly at 9AM and clean up/paddle down to Island Ford over about 2 hours. We can take longer depending on how much trash we find but if we get to Island Ford by 11 AM everyone will also have time to head over to Riverside Park for the festivities at 11:30. I am told there will be awards for Most Unusual Item, etc found during all the cleanups scheduled for that day on the river and around the city.
