A few things to make the day go better.

1.  Please print the waiver, fill it out, bring it with you:   http://www.meetup.com/kayakclasses/files/

2.  If you are staying in the bunkhouse with us Friday night, you will be on time!  If you are not staying in the bunkhouse, we need you at the Hiwassee Outfitters bunkhouse  NO LATER THAN 8:45 am Saturday morning.  We will have a class before moving to the put in. YOUR GPS WILL GET YOU LOST,,,,, FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FROM THE MEETUP SITE!

3. You will need food and water for the day.

4.  There is better than a 100% chance you will get wet, from head to toe, BEFORE we start down the river.  SOAKING WET!! Dress for it.  This is a dam controlled river which means the water is cold.  Some folks op for wet suits, some wear smart wool or polypropylene.  No cotton or denim.  If you do not own a paddling dry top, a light weight rain jacket is a life saver.  Please bring one.  If you are wet, cold and miserable you will not have a good time.  Dress in layers, if you heat up as the day progresses, taking off is easier than being miserable.

If you are staying with us Friday or Saturday night you need to know a bit about our weekend home. It is co-ed, one large room with bunk beds.  The beds do have foam mattresses covered with vinyl.  You will need a sleeping bag or some type covers.  It is not fancy but it beats a tent and it does have a covered porch.  BRING A FOLDING CHAIR!

The bunkhouse is close to the showers, about 100 yards, the showers are very basic, again nothing fancy at all, BRING SHOWER SHOES!

You are on your own for meals.  Some folks do bring food and prepare it there.  Most of us are lazy and drive down the road to a local place that has a pretty decent breakfast and a wicked hamburger.

This email along with the description on the website should answer most of your questions, if you still have any, call me.   678-549-4950

I look forward to swimming with you all this weekend!
