Announcing a new Meetup for The Great Outdoors!

What: Santa Fe River 8.5 mile paddle 4 springs

When: July 11,[masked]:00 AM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Paddle on Garth...
Santa Fe River.
In time- 8:00 AM
Paddle time- 8:30AM
Out time- 4-5 PM
Please note on your RSVP if you nee to rent or if you have your own boat.
You must depart from Orlando by 6AM to make the in time for this trip.
I made this on a Saturday and the out is at Ginnie Springs park so if anyone wants to go and Camp Saturday you can but you need to make the reservations yourself the link is below. At this time I do not see me camping...but you could and then take the nest 4-5 miles on Sunday to the next out SR-47 Bridge...
This is a nice easy paddle, we will be stopping to swim in the springs on the way down river, do know your limits and read the disclaimer on the message board. Expect to see wildlife including alligators. Bring what you need on the water; you will not see any 7-11's on this river paddling down.

I have the "IN" at the Canoe Outpost and going to the "Out" at Ginnie Springs. This is a 8.5 mile trip and will run us about 4 hours to paddle. We will hit 3 more springs that we can dive and snorkel on the way down so I do expect the trip to last up to 6 hours with the ending at Ginnie springs for a dive to finish the day off. So bring you snorkeling gear!!!
Canoe out post has rentals and you "MUST" call them and reserve your own canoe or kayak with them. Once we find out how many paddlers will be renting we can ask for a group discount.
If you have you own kayak or boat you can bring them, the price for this is-
$3- put in fee charged by the outpost
$10- entree fee to Gennie Springs park (That?s a $2 discount ) (I am not sure if this could be waved if you camp or is part of the price call them and ask.)Gennie Springs
$13 total for kayak/boat owners....
You have the option to get a ride back with your kayak for something like $15-$25 (the guy I talked to confused me on this.. but we plan on running cars anyway so we can avoid this charge)

This is the price list that I talked to them about rentals... If you need to rent the below prices will be what you pay... Call Santa Fe Canoe Outpost and make your reservation... Tell them it is for "The Great Outdoors" ...
Santa Fe Canoe Outpost
Canoe $30.00 per person, minimum charge of $60 per canoe which includes Ginnie Springs entrance fee.
Kayak - $35.00. (1 person sit it)
Again depending on the amount that go we might be able to get a discount on the rentals.

Ok last time we did this trip we all got lost driving..if anyone remembers this pleas post it or send it to me so I can...MC
Directions... From Map Quest this is showing about 135 miles from OIA and 2 hours and 10 minutes to drive. It is North past Gainesville?s Florida. Here is the link to for map quest.. Mapquest
I hope you can all make this great trip. Car pools will be needed so let?s all talk on the RSVP.
Again we will be running cars to the out. Once we decide on the amounts of boats some of us might need to meet at 8AM to run cars. Please step up to be a runner... This is a great job for members without yaks,,,Thank you!!! MC
I will post more when I can. All YES & MAYBE RSVP will get my cell number next week with follow up instructions.
See you all soon,
Mike C.
