Paddler?s Environmental Toolkit Training (PETT) is a course taught by the Florida Paddling Trails Association to enable paddlers to ?recognize environmental & wildlife problems ? to solve the small problems and report the large ones?. It consists of two half day sessions: a four hour class work session (often taught in the evening) followed by a three hour paddle (often done the next day) to reinforce things learned in class.

Why should you take this training?
We all enjoy Florida?s beautiful water trails and the nature which makes them so enjoyable and keeps us coming back for more. In paddling Florida?s waterways, we become part of the environment. We need to give back or pay it forward by helping to ensure this paddling paradise is here for our children and future generations. This training provides some tools to help make this vision/dream happen.

What are the topics of the training?
During this training we will be discussing topics such as:
? Florida?s ecology
? Plant & animal wildlife ? native, exotic & invasive species
? Ethical lifestyle ? interacting with nature in a way that minimizes our ?footprint?
? Toolkit
o Tools to take with you on a paddle
o Identifying problems and taking action

What does it cost?
The cost is only $5/ person for a FPTA member or $20/ person for a non-member. If you join the FPTA as a new member ($25 for individual membership), there is no additional charge you for the training. This includes the following:
? A laminated wildlife guide for Florida?s plants and animals ($6 value).
? A laminated ?Who Do You Call List? for problems you might encounter ($4 value).
? A page of references to look up your questions. ($2 value)
? Learning ways to help protect our environment - both plants & wildlife (priceless).
