Humanists believe that we can be moral without any god telling us what to do - in fact, we have to, because there is no god. We have studied what the various tenets of humanism are, how we compare to our nearest animal relatives and possible origins of human morality. Right now we are considering the last point.

In her new book, "Braintrust", Patricia Churchland maintains that human morality originates in the human brain and our study group is discussing her book. If you want information about Ms. Churchland, you can check the internet, but there are links on her facebook page to some video and articles about her and the book. The link to her facebook page is http://www.facebook.c... .

As for humanism in general, there is a lot of information on the internet for that subject as well. Of particular interest is: http://www.americanhu... . Also, a structured course in humanism is available at http://www.humanisted... - part of it is free and part is not.

I, also, have a summary of humanism, along with resource links, posted at: http://www.kcfreethou... .

Thanks for you interest in humanism!
