November Evening Meetup at MMGY Global on the Plaza

KC's PHP User Group Weekday Evening edition visits the Plaza!

We are excited to join our new friends at MMGY Global on the Plaza in November for our Weekday evening meeting!  Our new sponsor TekSystems will be bringing the pizza and soda.  Come join us for food, friends and plenty of sharing at our evening event!

We have permission for tonight to park in their parking lot in the back of the building off Summit.

Lightning Talks

This month, several of our members have been preparing content for us to learn from. Lisa will be showing us about using Custom Post Types in WordPress to store and handle additional data. Paul will be showing an application using the micro-framework Slim to provide an AJAX-serving API.  If time allows, there could be other topics too!

Our Meeting Format

We love Web Development, new development techniques and all things PHP. Our meetings are often a little free-formed, but we know evenings are precious so we will shoot for:

6:00 pm Pizza and Socializing

6:30 pm Meet and Greet our members and our sponsors.

6:45 pm Lightning Talks Begin

• Lisa - WordPress: Using Custom Post Types to Build Real Sites

• Paul - Using Slim to provide a RESTful API

7:30 pm - 8pm Open group discussion on any development topic, concern or question

All Developers Welcome!

We understand Web Developers often come from all backgrounds, and many work in more languages than PHP. Whether you're curious or just starting out, dabble in PHP on the weekends, write custom PHP on a daily basis, work in a framework like Symfony, Zend Framework, Silex, Slim, FuelPHP, CakePHP or customize CMS products like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla, our goal is that you will find something new, useful and thought provoking.

Interested in giving a presentation to the group, or demoing something new and cool you're working on? Contact one of the organizers through Meetup or talk after a monthly meeting and get signed up!

Great information, I plan on using SLIM immediately. Oh, and the pizza really helped me gain a new perspective on PHP.

Great informative Meetup. It was a nice gauge for what I already knew about PHP and what I didn't. What I don't know far outweighs what I do but this meeting has made me aware of what I don't know. Now I have tangible elements that I can learn to become a better developer. The speakers, each, gave excellent, concise and poignant presentations. Terrific group and an excellent Meetup. I'm proud that our company was able to host this event.

In a generous turn of events I will now be able to attend the meeting tonight. I don't have anything ready for "Last Month in PHP", but I might be able to whip together a lightning talk if there are any topics people want to hear about. We'll do it live!
