All of us know people who will not invest in real estate because they are afraid of losing their money, but they have no trouble in buying a lottery ticket.

Others would never bet on the outcome of last night's ball game, but they are attempting to invest by following the directions of some "national trainer" or hired mentor.

Finally, there is a third group that has bought and sold one, or several, properties. They can tell you totals received but not their real rate of return.

At our basic level, most of us invest in real estate to provide a better life for our families today and to provide for our retirement in the future. Obviously, to meet these goals, it is essential to minimize risk and maximize the opportunity for returns.

On Thursday February 16, 2012, there will be specific examples of why you do not need any secrets, special words, or tactics to succeed in real estate. You need only to place a value on your time, money, and potential losses, and then compare those numbers to your realistic potential gain.
