Hey guys,

Have a new project in mind that you'd like to get started on, or thought of extending the capabilities of your current applications? Thinking of using a NewSQL or NoSQL solution... why not the best of both? We're having a very hands on webinar we'd like to invite you to on "Deploying and building your first application with Akiban's JSON+SQL database"

Presenter: Padraig O'Sullivan, Software Engineer

Date: October 18, 2012

Time: 2pm ET

Akiban is the only database that merges JSON and SQL while fully maintaining the ability to query and scale your operational data. Developers and architects using Akiban can access JSON objects from a REST interface and then query the same data using SQL from existing database tools. Developers can quickly grab objects from the database while management can easily run reports and BI using SQL.

This SQLibrium will be very hands on covering to how install some of the technologies Akiban has developed. We will walk-through how to install the Akiban, load some data into it, and then show how the Akiban Free Developer Edition can be integrated with your applications. We'll also present a demo of the REST API developed by Sunny Gleason that shows how you can retrieve and insert with Akiban through a document like interface.

Padraig will cover:

  • Installing and connecting to Akiban
  • Loading data
  • Grouping tables
  • Creating group indexes
  • Viewing explain plans
  • Configuring Akiban
  • Demo of REST API by Sunny Gleason
  • Logical backups
  • Monitoring (basically walking through log files and information_schema)

Duration: 45 minutes
