What you need to know before you rsvp

there is a good chance you will get wet. so dress appropriately =)

If you want to park at the trailhead you will need an adventure pass you can buy one from Big 5, Sports Authority, Sport Chalet http://www.fs.fed.us/portaldata/r5/ap/r5-ap-vendors.php The cost is $5.00 for one day or $30.00 for a year.

Summary: This hike takes you along the banks of the east fork of the San Gabriel River. While the river banks are wooded and quite lovely, most of the trail traverses the rim above the high water line and most of your travel is through scrub brush. The highlight of the hike is a mysterious bridge built over the east fork in 1936, which has no road leading to it. Actually, in the 1930's a road did lead to it, but was swept away by floods in 1938.

google maps https://maps.google.com/maps?q=East+Fork+Road,+Azusa,+CA Trailhead: DIRECTIONS: From the 210 freeway exit at Azusa Avenue (Highway 39) and head north for 10 miles or so. Azusa Avenue becomes San Gabriel Canyon Road and parallels the San Gabriel Dam on the right. Turn right on East Fork Road and continue for another 8 miles until the road dead ends at the East Fork Ranger Station. Park in the lot or beside the road below the ranger station.

The parking situation at the trailhead is usually very tight so carpooling is recommended. The carpool location is Monrovia Park and Ride, located on the west side of Myrtle Avenue just south of the 210 freeway If you want to carpool we will meet at 7:40
