Part 1
Everyone knows what a scavenger hunt is, but what?s a photo scavenger hunt? A scavenger hunt depends upon finding and retrieving things from a given list. Whoever accumulates the most things on the list wins. The difference with a photo scavenger hunt is that we only take away the images of the things on the list.

But it goes much deeper than that. Can you imagine retrieving a smile in an old-fashioned scavenger hunt? Well, in a photo scavenger hunt, you can. Emotions, gestures, suggestions, hints, fantasies, and events are all fair game.

On the date of the photo scavenger hunt we will publish the list of clues to capture on our Meetup website in the ?Files? section ( at 8:30 AM. You will have five hours in which to accomplish this task by shooting anywhere in the Lancaster area.

Your creativity is tested and exercised to the limit in this event. Kudos are gained by providing the most innovative solution to the clue. Here?s an example (not found on the clue list you will be given):

Dinosaurs were extinct 65-70 million years ago. Where would you find a dinosaur to photograph today? You might look for a gas-guzzler car, enhanced by a smoking tail pipe. Or you might head to the toy store, plenty of dinosaurs there. How about a museum display? I think you get the idea.

The list of clues that you will receive is geared to adults. This is because we want you to think. Exercise the little gray cells. There is nothing inappropriate for kids but much will fly over their heads, I am afraid. Then again, I may be surprised, as I often am.

Part 2:

We will meet at the Lancaster County CVB to share our results. We will distribute an envelope to each participant for your flash card. Write your name on the envelope and enclose the media card along with a sheet of paper that identifies the order of your results.

Your photography will undoubtedly result in ?out of sequence? photos. We need to know in what sequence your photos are arranged. Also, there will likely be doubles, exposure changes, compositional changes, or pix of your long lost relatives mixed into your results. Please let us know which are to be used to satisfy the clue. This is why we're asking you to shoot in .jpg to streamline the process of viewing the photos (plus you won't have a chance to do post anyway!)

There are no prizes, just the adulation of the crowd. Let me know prior to the event if you have any questions about how this is going to work, and I hope to see you there!
