Announcing a new Meetup for The Lancaster County Photography Meetup Group!

What: The Second Annual Portrait Studio Lighting Meetup

When: Saturday, March 13,[masked]:00 AM

Price: $5.00 per person

Ephrata High School
803 Oak Blvd
Ephrata, PA 17522

Based off the overwhelming success of last year's meetup of the same material, we bring you The Second Annual Portrait Studio Lighting Meetup. The day will begin with a very brief talk about what to expect from the day, introductions to all the "staff" that will be helping out all day and general information that will help the day move along smoothly. For those of you that joined us last year, it will be a very similar format; if you are new to the group, here's how the day works.

10am- Brief informational talk, introductions

10:15ish- We break up into groups of 5-6 people and move to a station. Our leader, Brian will be making sure everyone gets to the places you should be. There will be 5 stations set up, each with a different lighting scenario: One light, Multiple lights, Mixing big and small lights, Mixing strobes with ambient lights, and Continuous (or hot) lights. Also moving around the areas will be models to photograph. The models will be moving opposite the groups so that you should get a chance to shoot in every space and meet all the models.

12:30pm- Break for lunch. Lunch will be on your own. There are many different locations around Ephrata High School that offer everything from fast food to sandwiches to pizza and even fine dining. Or pack a lunch.

1:30pm- We will reconvene and have a short Q&A time for anything you might have seen in the morning sessions but you were unsure why or how it happened. This is a time to ask questions while they are fresh in your mind.

1:45ish- Now we will gather in 2 larger groups and take a few models and pool the resources to solve some more intricate problems. This time will be more experimentation and the leaders of the group will take suggestions as to what to do, where to put the lights and so on. This is more just a "for fun" time when we can try things in the groups and see what happens.

3:00pm- Party's over.

I will be collecting copies of images from everyone before they leave. The models' payment will be your images from throughout the day, and based on the "success" of collecting photos from the Wedding Themed meetup, I'll be taking a more simplified, direct route. I'll just grab your memory card(s) and download a .jpg copy of your images. If the next question that comes to mind is "But I shoot all RAW files (or TIFF)"... well, you'll have to shoot a RAW+.jpg basic or normal. If you have any questions about this, or you are unsure what I'm talking about, email me and I'll explain further. This will not be optional; we are all coming to learn and the models and stylists are here to get photos. I'll take care of simple editing to make sure everyone's photos look good, but if you want to arrange something more elaborate with a specific model, I'll have everyone's contact information on the day of.

We will be charging a $5 fee to simply cover the cost of buying our models and helpers some lunch. With so many people helping to pull this event off, we feel the least we can do is feed them some lunch for helping us out. We appreciate your cooperation with this.
