The Santa Monica Masala Pages

ALL are welcome no matter what creed or nationality. Let's share in a culture 1000's of years old and that has given us so much to help in our daily lives. Any one and every one who is even remotely interested in India are welcome.

As the oldest living civilization on earth, mother India conjures up varied feelings and leaves one in awe with its contrasts and similarities!!! Sub cultures within a culture. Although each culture is similar, they come across with a wide contrast. Indian culture is one, traditions are many.

India is the most diverse country on earth within the same race and culture.
Four major religions were born and developed here. You see Hindus, muslims, sikhs, jains, christians, zoroatrians, jews and people of baha’I faith all live with unity in diversity. Over all, despite the strong role of religion in Indian life, atheists and agnostics also co- exist harmoniously.

India has a total of 22 regional languages, with over 2000s dialects!!
( This is debatable, some say it is over 3000 dialects, while others say over 5000!!)

Our meeting events consist of bollywood movie nights, film festivals, potlucks, picnics, interesting and interactive games, classical dances and music concerts, philosophical lectures on spiritual aspects of India and its people.
We have also recently included international cultural events once every 3 months, which focuses on exploring other cultures by discovering the similarities in our differences.

Welcome smile
