Geo-Pupping: Geocaching with your Dog

Details

We just couldn't take those sad puppy dog eyes anymore! Each time we headed out to an event that wasn't dog friendly we got those eyes. Well, grab the leash folks, and bring Fido along to this one of a kind event! We'll have a talk about caching with your dog, training tips and some cool swag for the pups and humans alike. Don't have a dog? You're in luck because Animal Friends (http://www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org/site/c.elKWIeOUIhJ6H/b.8454429/k.BF0B/Home.htm) of Pittsburgh will be there with some adorable, adoptable four-legged friends just for you!

Join The Outdoor Classroom (http://www.theoutdoorclassroompa.org/) and PAGA (http://www.wpaga.com/phpBB3/faq.php) as we venture into the Boyce Mayview Park with our four-legged friends! This event is most definitely dog friendly. All temp caches will be on dog friendly trails and we're even going to have special caches just for the dogs! Bring an open heart to meet the friendly pups from Animals Friends (http://www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org/site/c.elKWIeOUIhJ6H/b.8454429/k.BF0B/Home.htm), and learn some caching etiquette with your furry caching buddies. The event is free but we're putting a call out to cachers to bring an item to donate to Animal Friends to help out those pups that don't have loving homes and owners yet.

We're hoping to meet at least 50 caching dogs so we're pulling out all the stops. There will be door prizes, a raffle, some cool swag for temp FTFs, a pot-luck lunch, group photo, a best dressed pup contest, prizes for the smallest and largest caching dog and more! The Outdoor Classroom will provide some mainstays for the pot-luck lunch, so please bring something to share. We'll do a group photo, contests and raffles at Noon, so if you're planning on just stopping in, you might as well make it around then.

Jack Daniels can't wait to meet all the other caching pups around the 'Burgh and beyond! This will be a great day to "log a few dogs" too but please keep in mind that all dogs should be well behaved, stay on leash, have their proper shots and remove all "deposits" left in the park. As should their owners

This event is geared toward those who have a general knowledge of geocaching, as we will not be teaching folks the basics of how to cache today. But if you're new to the game and would like to meet other cachers or want to join in on the fun please feel welcome to attend. "Will attends" are appreciated on Geocaching.com (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=5da4af5e-aa8a-4679-a948-4093db51c4f0) or you can register online by clicking our link below.
