LA Ruby June Meetup

In June we'll continue our meetup on the first Thursday of the month, so as not to conflict with RailsConf the following week. In July we'll move back to our regular meeting day of the second Thursday. June's meetup will be at Border Stylo in Hollywood. Schedule: 7:00-7:15 Open 7:15-7:30 Introductions 7:30-9:00 Presentations (3 30-minute slots) 9:00-10:00 Open Parking: Pull up to the gate and press the button on the intercom to get into the gated parking lot. If the parking lot is full, park on the street. Presentations: Rspec-ing your Views Daniel Dyba A brief intro on using Rspec to test one's view pages in Rails. REST != Routes David Henner Most Rails Developers have been using RESTful routes for the past year or two. However there are many things about REST and routes that are misunderstood. In this talk I will explain what REST is and is not. Then I will show how to use namespaces / base_controllers and your shared folder to keep your code clean and DRY. Targeting Companies Hiring Ruby Developers Stacey Broadwell Ruby is growing in demand. Attendees of this 30 minute session will learn what companies in LA are hiring for Ruby professionals. Focus will be on how companies recruit, what channels they use, and how to get past HR and in-front of the hiring managers.

Border Stylo is a great location < 10 minutes from my work location. Beats going over to Santa Monica any day!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
