LA Ruby / Ruby on Rails Meetup

  • Jun 12, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The location is BUILDING K inside The Culver Studios lot, on the corner of Washington Blvd and Ince Blvd, in Culver City.

All guests must enter through Gate B on Ince Blvd (see Google Maps Street View).

Fullscreen employees will be at the Gate B to walk you from there to Building K.

Since our office is located inside the Culver Studios lot, you MUST sign up to the meetup and provide your first and last name. If by any chance you are not able to sign through, please send your name to [masked].

Only guests who signed up will be allowed though the gates.

The best option is the Trader Joe's Ince Parking lot (see Google Maps) which offers 2 hours of free parking.
You can enter the parking from Washington Boulevard.
Alternatively, it's not hard to find street parking around the block.

Guests are not allowed to enter the Culver Studios lot with their car.

Douglas Sellers "A philosophy and technique for interview, hiring and team building"

Baxter Farabaugh (lightning talk) "An intro to Thor and why you might want to use it"

Claudio Baccigalupo "API-driven development in Ruby"

There is plenty of room for anyone to present, so don't be shy. Whether you just released a Ruby gem, you just learned a Ruby trick, you deployed an immense Rails site, you want to compare different CSS frameworks, or you have anything worth sharing with peers, join up and talk, and the audience will forever be grateful!

Are there any topics people would like to see addressed at a future meetup? I just did one on the value of unit testing for a JS meetup that I could adapt, but I'd be open to many topics.

Last update… I have uploaded the slides for my talk (together with my previous L.A. Ruby meetup talks) at:

Feel free to star, share, etc… those should be all the talks I've given at this meetup… or maybe I'm missing one, who knows! :)

I will probably running late though because I have a meeting before.
I have a possible lightning talk with my cohorts about our RGSoC project this summer.
