Announcing a new Meetup for Las Vegas Medium/ Large Breed Dog Meetup and Friends!

What: Red Springs/Calico Basin Easy Hike!

When: October 4,[masked]:00 AM

Red Springs at Calico Basin
Red Rocks
Las Vegas, NV 89124

Fabulous forecast for Sunday, so join us if you can!

Great exercise and its one of our favorite hikes! Not to difficult for any of us...and the dogs LOVE IT!

Fairly flat hike along the base of the beautiful sandstone formations. This will be a pretty easy hike (2 hour max) There is scrambling available for those who want to. Those that prefer not to scramble can follow the trail into a meadow. Perfect picnic area also.

Dog and kid friendly. Check the weather and dress in layers if needed.
Do not forget plenty of water for you and your dogs! Don't forget to bring poop bags to clean up after your pooch :)

I am bringing some extra bags to pick up trash along the way. If you would like to help out with that, let me know. We do this hike a lot and have been seeing more and more plastic bottles and trash and want to keep our trails nice for all! No obligation to pick up trash, we want you to enjoy your hike.

Meet near park end of the Red Springs picnic area parking lot.

From town, drive out to Red Rocks. From Charleston Blvd at Highway I-215, the western beltway (Table 1, Site 516), drive west on Charleston Blvd for 3.8 miles (about 1.5 miles before the entrance to the Scenic Loop) to Calico Basin Road (Calico Basin-Red Springs sign). Turn right onto Calico Basin Road and drive north, then west, for about 1 mile to where the paved road makes a 90-degree turn to the right. At this point, turn left, drive through the gate, and enter the picnic area (Site 464).
This hike is not on the scenic loop, and they do not charge an entrance fee here.

We have a golden and a beagle/golden mix. Look for us next to our light blue Sante Fe.
