Announcing a new Meetup for Craving for ASIAN FOOD!

What: April Jitlada Thursday

When: April 9,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Please RSVP at LocalThaiFood Meetup Group for this event. Thanks

Jitlada seems to be everyone's favorite Thai restaurant so far (including me). Recently they have expanded their menu to over 200 items. It'd take us months to try them all. So I've decided to make it a monthly thing. We will not (except when member requested) order what we ordered the month before. As usual, Jazz (the owner) will help me pick out dishes for everyone. If any member has a dish or two that he/she wants to try please feel free to tell me. Jitlada Thursday will be a pre-paid and pre-order event. I will post the dishes and amount when it gets closer to the date.

Here's a little bit about Jitlada.

Jitlada was at one point in time shunned by the local Thai community after ownership of the restaurant had changed back in 2005. None believed that the new owner, Tui, could replicate the authenticate Southern Thai cuisine, which has common rare ingredients such as fresh turmeric, sator beans, frogs legs with santol fruit, young tamarind shoots and palm vinegar. To most who know Southern Thai food well, dishes consisted of fragrant curries, fresh herbs and unusual vegetables. With the help of Tui's">Tui's sister, Jazz, and recipes they loved from their native area of Nakhon Sri Thammarat province near the Malaysian border, Jitlada has now become a local favorite and a favorite among Thai food experts.

Reviews on LocalThaiFood.com, Yelp and Chowhound has highly recommended Jitlada. Examples of extraordinary dishes reviewers has recommended are k?i b?an t?m khĩi-m?n (translated to tumeric-seasoned soup with chicken) which is similar to tom yum gai but less sour, Kkh?a kl?ng "Phat Lung" (translated to beef dry curry) which has a lot of heat and soupier sauce than most curries, yam m?-m?ang (translated to mango salad) which is a sweeter variation than most Thai restaurants has produced, and softshell crab curry, which is one of the more milder amazing dishes to have.

Jitlada was recommended by many but surprisingly, I have never tried their highly recommended food. Since this is my first event and with the great help of co-hosts, Chris and Cookie, let's journey together and explore this amazing menu that owner, Tui, has put together. Please join us at Jitlada for a fun night of amazing food and friends!
