Startups Disrupting the Legal Industry

While the digital age has brought greater efficiency to almost every industry, the staid legal sector seems stubbornly stuck in the past. A group of innovators is changing things by using technology to make legal services more affordable and user-friendly. Their approaches include creating online services where users can quickly find legal help and using software to automate routine legal work.

This event will feature short demos from consumer-facing legal technology companies followed by a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities associated with disrupting the legal industry. We'll discuss why the legal industry failed to innovate, where the biggest opportunities to disrupt are, if lawyers should be afraid, and much more.

Panelists include:

Jonathan Askin, Founder of the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy Clinic

Jennifer Berrent, Partner at WilmerHale

Abe Geiger, Founder of Shake

Nikhil Nirmel, Founder of Lawdingo

Erik Dykema, Co-Founder & CEO of Caserails

Basha Rubin, Founder & CEO of Priori Legal

I just signed up to join, alas, as I got to Eventbrite I am informed it is 'sold out'. Can I be waitlisted as is possible on other meetup sites?
    BTW, why the Eventbrite requirement?

    • Vinay J.

Yep, we've hit max capacity for the venue. We've closed RSVPs on Meetup to match Eventbrite. Sorry it didn't work out this time, but please come to the next one.

Lots of lawyers, not enough coders at this meetup. I was interested in meeting legal experts who have an intimate knowledge of pressing challenges in law that could be solved via tech.

But looks like the event is booked :(

Sold out again. Sorry to miss it...
