June Meetup

PHP 101
Jason will show the basics of version control with git: How to setup a repository and add files. What remote repositories are and how to use github and Bitbucket. Working with others, merging and branching.

PHP & Beyond - Intro to ZF2
This won't be the standard 'Hello World' personal blog example almost every framework uses. Tim will first show how to use ZF2 as a library, adding functionality to an existing application.

Then - since everyone loves them - we'll take a look at using ZF2 as a micro-framework.

Finally, a quick overview of the full MVC stack provided by ZF2.

    Hey everyone!

I'm looking to get the entire presentation up this weekend. I'm looking to get it up on Github to host there, so that all the videos will be easily handled as well.

    Until then, check this out:

    http://www.git-tower.com/blog/git-cheat-sheet-detail/

It covers most of what we covered, with a few additions, and some further knowledge.

I'm not a programmer so the information, which was presented with excellence by Jason, was a bit much but it was interesting and I met some good people so it was worth it.

As a prep for the next meeting on the Zend framework, you may want to setup a box with the framework, and start playing. I am setting up my Ubuntu 13.04 laptop with the framework. It was surprisingly easy. You can download Ubuntu 13.04 Desktop here:

    http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop

and follow these instructions for the Zend framework and Development Environment:
