Join us for a very special musical fusion of ‘East Meets West’.
This concert offers a rare opportunity to hear traditional Korean music and classical Western music in a single evening.
The programme will focus on string music, bringing together the ‘Abel Quartet’ and four performers from ‘The Korean National Gugak Centre’, one of the great arts institutions of Korea whose work oversees a thousand years of musical history.

We will meet at the venue from 6.45pm. Arrive early and Kings Place has a very decent cafe selling hot meals, soup, pizza,cakes and sandwiches.
Afterwards we'll head to a bar for drinks nearby.
THE ABEL QUARTET

The Abel Quartet was formed in 2013 while its members were studying in Munich, Germany. They studied under Prof. Christoph Poppen and Prof. Hariolf Schlichtig who were both former members of the Cherubini Quartet.
Since Abel’s formation notable highlights include being awarded 1st prize at the Joseph Haydn International Chamber Music competition and the audience prize at the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition, 2015.
Most recently Abel won 1st prize at the 5th Artsylvia Chamber Music Audition, 2016.
THE KOREAN NATIONAL GUGAK CENTRE

The Korean National Gugak Centre is a culture and arts institute that preserves and promotes over a thousand years of tradition and history. They have continued to pass down Korea’s traditions and artistic skills whilst at the sometime preserving a variety of culture and art resources including their nation’s unique court music, Pungryu and Korean classical music.

Kings Place is an independently-funded arts and conference venue presenting a diverse range of music, spoken word and art. It contains the first new public concert hall to be built in Central London since the completion of the Barbican Concert Hall in 1982.
