Learn about physical security, locks, and locking mechanisms. This month's topic is FLAPS & SEALS aka Tamper-Evident technology. I've got a lot of requests for this topic even though it is not lockpicking in the traditional sense. This refers to tapes, mechanical seals, electronics, and any manner of device that attempts to provide evidence of tamper (access, alternation, counterfeitting, etc). These devices are used for warranty/counterfeit protection, cargo transportation, food & drug packaging, hazardous materials storage. The goal of this class will be to learn how these technologies work and how to tamper them without leaving evidence (think of opening an envelope and then resealing it with no trace).
This will be a HANDS-ON WORKSHOP. You are going to touch the equipment. You are going to use the tools to tamper them, and, with a bit of luck, you'll do it properly and leave no evidence.
If you want to see what some of the seals look like, here's some examples of adhesive and mechanical tamper seals:
See you all there!
