Locksport International - Los Angeles, CA Meetup

Learn about physical security, locks, and locking mechanisms. This month's topic is combination padlocks. We'll go over how they differ from the safe locks we've been looking at the last two months, and some basic techniques to open them. I'll be bringing a good number of padlocks to display, including the Sargent & Greenleaf combination padlocks used by the military.

Of course, the safecracking competition continues this month. I expect to see some locks open this time! If you are still having trouble please sit down with me and a cutaway lock to understand the theory behind manipulation. It's important to understand how the locks work in the first place in order to learn how and why manipulation is possible.

More of the same at this Meet, as the ones before it--"simply maaahvolous" (kudos to Billy Crystal!)...!
I always learn something new at each Meet (DG did his usual brilliant job of explaining bypass techniques; this time he covered combination lock strategy), see new faces, make new friends...I'm already counting the days until the next Meet!

Once again, another great Friday night meet-up evening. Thanks Datagram for teaching my two 13 year old children a little about locks.
