Locksport International - Los Angeles, CA Meetup

Learn about physical security, locks, and locking mechanisms. This month's topic is Intro to Impressioning and the start of the 2013 Impressioning Contest. This is a year long event where you try to open as many locks using only the impressioning technique! For those who are unfamiliar with the technique, there will be a short presentation, some videos, and a demonstration of how to perform the technique. You WILL need a set of tools to do this technique:

* Impressioning file (A nice pippin, swiss, or round file)
* Key holder (Dedicated tool or a pair of vicegrips)
* Magnifier/light source (Not required but very helpful
* Table vise / some method of holding the lock.

Some links to get an example of commerical impressioning products (shop around for better prices): (optional, but pretty awesome. I will be selling 45x LED scopes at the Jan. meeting)

If you're unsure whether or not you want to invest the money to master this technique come by in January and see how it is done then decide!

See you all there!

Datagram brought in the New Year in style (even though he said he wuz thrashed!) by inaugruating (sp?) this years contest: impressioning! It's gonna be a great contest, with, I think, ALOT more participation than last year's safe-cracking fiasco...! All in all, even with a fairly low turn-out, this Meet was a good 'un...
