Hello,

The NSL Lockpicking group meets on Friday, September 17th (next week) starting at 7 PM. This month we'll have an informal introduction to combination locks. We'll go over:

+ Single dial combo padlocks
+ Multiple dial (sesame) combo padlocks
+ Direct drive combination safe locks
+ Wheel & cam combination safe locks
+ Decoding/shimming combo locks
+ Manipulation/decoding of safe locks
+ JK's Wii remote safecracking tool

We'll also go over basic locks and lockpicking again since there are so many newcomers. We don't have many combo locks at the space, so if you'd like to get your own (or donate some), go out and get some locks like the following. They shouldn't run you more than ~$5 or so:

Additionally: your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go out and purchase a simple deadbolt from a hardware store. Look for a standard Kwikset, Baldwin, Dexter, or Schlage and make sure that you are not buying the Smart Key or Secure Key models (these aren't pin-tumbler locks). We have about a dozen lock boards that we need locks for, so lets get them filled up! A double sided deadbolt should not run you more than $10-$20. Once we get a few deadbolts together we can build our own progressively pinned lock boards so that I don't have to haul my giant crate back and forth each month : )

I'll be bringing a bin of deadbolts/parts that we can frankenstein together for some of the boards, but we'll need at least a dozen more.

Thanks,
datagram
