Rails and iOS lightning talks w/ Apartment List, Pivotal Labs and thoughtbot

What is a lighning talk?
It's a dense 5-7 minute presentation on a very specific topic ("Why I use X as my IDE", "CSS structure that scales well", "Using X library to do Y"). Nothing long-winded, short and to the point.

If you are interested in presenting a ligtning talk, email [masked] with your proposed topic.

This was definitely worth the trip from the south side on Caltrain, and for future meetups, it might be worth creating a list whereby meetup members can add requests for topics (and also vote on them), which would basically shift the task from finding popular topics to finding suitable presenters for those topics.

Great concept--short talks make it easy for people to share a simple but useful topic.

Enjoyed the talks and the lightening talk format! Here's the blog post I referenced in my lightening talk on writing better bugs: http://marlenacompton.com/?p=3288

In lieu of a lightning talk, you might like some CSS3 eye-candy over a few beers (I hope there's some delicious "Arrogant Bastard" beer at this meetup):
