Sullivan Canyon - Rustic Canyon Loop

Riddle: What does a photobooth, The Beach Boys, a bunch of WWII-era NAZIs and Charlie Manson have in common? You will see for yourself on this hike! See Comments section below for clues.

Our hike will begin in Sullivan Canyon and parallel a seasonal creek through a shady canyon. After about a mile we will head up a goat trail to Sullivan Ridge. Soon after the trail joins the fire road we will diverge onto my secret trail, a shady contour trail on the west side of the ridge above Rustic Canyon. Then its down to Rustic Canyon and eventually back to Sullivan Canyon.

Hike will be about 6-7 miles (that includes an exploratory segment) with some hefty elevation gain/loss. Sorry, no beginners.

Directions to Trail Head

From Sunset Boulevard, turn north on Mandeville Canyon Road. After 1/3 mile turn left onto Westridge Road. Drive uphill on Westridge Road and turn left on Bayliss Road. Make another left on Queensferry and find a place to park. Park on street where it is legal (most of it is on Bayliss), and walk down the road to the big green gate.
