Sunset Over Malibou Lake

http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/c/8/5/7/event_23031287.jpegThe scenic vista point at the top of Lake View Trail will provide us a beautiful view of the sunset over Malibou Lake and the surrounding mountains.

Our easy-to-moderate 4.5 mile hike in Malibu Creek State Park will take us through the Reagan Meadows, forested woodlands, The Lookout Trail and my secret Lookout Trail bypass.

Toward the end of the hike we will ascend a wooded ridge, gaining 260 feet over 0.7 miles. There are limited views through the trees until you reach the top of the ridge and are presented with a sublime view to the west over Malibou Lake.The lake looks seductive from this perch, a gleaming gem of water surrounded by tall green mountains.

Bring some light snacks and drink to share. We'll be doing more standing than sitting at this location.

Directions to Trailhead

The trailhead parking lot is on the South-East corner of Mullholland Hwy and Cornell Rd. Enter the parking lot from Cornell Rd (Actually you will enter from Lake Vista Dr. That's because Cornell Rd changes name to Lake Vista Dr at Mullholland).

To get there, take the 101 Freeway toward Agoura Hills, get off at Kanan Rd and turn south towards the beach for about 3/4 mile to Cornell Way and turn left. Bear Right onto Cornell Road and go south for about 3 miles (passing Paramount Ranch), cross Mulholland (stop sign here), and turn left in first driveway .

Optional: bring a flashlight in case we are having too much fun and it gets too dark. I'll bring at least two. Stash a long-sleeved overshirt in your pack.
