This site was home to the Chumash, Spanish Rancho El Conejo, and modern ranching and farming operations. For many years, the Santa Monica Mountains sustained the Chumash and Tongva/Gabrielino cultures. Sycamore Canyon, which cuts through Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa and Point Mugu State Park, was part of a Chumash trade route. Satwiwa, which means "the bluffs," was the name of a nearby Chumash village.

We'll hike through serene hills, with views of Boney Mountain. Along the way there is a seasonal water fall and some hand-sized fossils. We'll take a snack break at the Danielson Monument. The hike is about 8.4 miles with net 1,000 feet elevation gain.

Its been a year and a half since the area was burned by the Camarillo Springs fire. Should be interesting to see how its coming back

Post Hike Lunch will be at The Natural Cafe
