Blogging Resolutions for 2013

This month we are looking at resolutions. Well, it is January after all.

We'll be assembling a panel of experienced bloggers to talk about how they plan on improving their blogging in 2013. Are they going to revamp their design, add some new plugins, change to a new platform, focus on the content, get to grips with adsense...

Speaker so far include:

Marko Saric from the fantastic HowToMakeMyBlog blog

Eva Keogan of Nixdminx fame and from the world of social media communications

Simon Freeman who writes a great blog about how to be the best runner you can be

By hearing about their ideas for the new year, we should all be able to learn about future trends and pick up some gems for how to improve our own blogs.

Please RSVP now to save your place and don't forget to check out this month's prize draw courtesy of nuffnangX.

Thanks for a really informative evening and apols for the tantra TMI! My takeaways:
    - pictures, video, infographics superior to text
    - 4 billion hits / month on Youtube
    - be savvy with SEO words "Julia Robert's armpit hair"

    Useful tips
    - "comment love" leaves link to your last post when you comment
    - "sance like noone's watching" - experiment, especially when you have a small audience

Thanks again and really looking forward to the next one.

Dance like nobody is watching is perfect advice for brand new bloggers. It takes time to build an audience so you have a lot of freedom to play around in the early days, building your style and tone of voice as you go.

It was great. I learned a lot such as being clear on the purpose of your blog, attracting readers, and using multi media more this year. It was a big help! :)

A great start to the year of blogging meetups. Special thanks to our speakers Marko, Simon and Eva and those who put their hand up tp ask a question. We have a lot planned for this year, including regular blogger interview posts on http://www.londonbloggers.net and LBM Audible, the new community podcast which you can find in iTunes here: http://bit.ly/lbmaudible.

If you would like to write a guest post for the London Bloggers Meetup blog please contact either Bernie or myself via Meetup.com.

Great event as always. Small tip for the tantric sex blogger, if you do move your website over to wordpress, make sure you 301 all your old blogger links to not lose traffic/Pagerank.

Thanks Ian...I do blog about lots of other things - travel, yoga, spirituality, food... but I guess I made my bed a bit last night with that comment. Still, all publicity is good publicity, right? Anyway, thanks for a great evening and for the tips.

Looking forward to this. I've just spent a gruelling couple of months preparing my move to WordPress, using the very few hours outside of work. There's still a social sharing glitch, but so be it - they'll be fixed over time. Newest post is all about making the WordPress journey. See you all tomorrow!

Thanks for a really interesting evening. What really stuck in my head is what Eva said about staying true to yourself and not to lose sight of what your blog was set up to do. Time for a refocus methinks.

Thanks for a very interesting evening.
It is always inspiring to hear from bloggers writing about what they are passionate about and how that process manifests itself.
There are so many more opportunities for spreading content these days and multimedia is clearly a great way to keep things interesting.
Thanks to all the participants and for some interesting questions!

I enjoyed Blogging Resolutions tonight and the speakers had great tips to inspire bloggers for 2013. My favourites tips were:

    - include more interactive, visual and multimedia elements
    - invite guest bloggers
    - do interviews, including video interviews
    - connect with others and comment on other blogs
    - don't lose sight of what your blog is about

Marko had the best opener: predictions say mobile traffic will outgrow computer traffic online by next year. Very useful to know in terms of how mobile-friendly is my blog's design and content.
