Ever marveled at those incredible nature photographs and keen to give it a try. Then this meetup is for you. This month we're heading South West to Barnes. The WWT London Wetland Centre is a stunning nature haven with beautiful walkways set amongst lakes, ponds, meadows and reedbeds. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife including over 180 species of birds, water voles, amphibians, bats, grass snakes, slow worms, butterflies and moths, and provides outstanding photographic opportunities (bring your long lenses!)
There are 6 hides dotted around the site most of which could accommodate 12-15 people and the largest of which can accommodate 50 people. These hides enable you stick your lenses out of the windows, but realistically you'll probably need a lens 400mm+ and ideally some binoculars. For the majority of members who wont have these lenses there are still plenty of photographic opportunities. There is an area with hand-reared birds (hence some of them are quite tame) and a massive array of weird and wonderful plants so it's a great place for macro photography. There's a section of the site known as"Wildside" which is particularly picturesque and has opportunities for landscape photography and there are generally loads of swampy/reedy areas with lots of pond life.
