Show Me the Money - Optimal Monetisation Strategies for Online Video

Money, Money, Money (as ABBA said), that's what we're talking about this month!

Recent statistics on using online video in marketing and e-commerce leave no room for error. Internet Retailer reports that users are much more likely to make a purchase if they watch a product video on a retailer's website.

So what if you're not selling? Monetise your content!

This month we'll have great speakers to help you raise your bank balance with your video strategy.

Speakers:

Andreas Lindgren from CarrotPay - Coins for the Internet talks about How  to Make Money with Micropayments. Tweet him here @CarrotPay2

Shoaib Oosman from Digital Governance (Randicoot) talks about in-player billing, monetisation for gaming, donations and education videos and monetising your streaming content.

Dominic Perkins from Collective talks about targeting ads to the right audience using inventory, data and technology. Tweet him here @domperkins

PLEASE NOTE: We are capping numbers at 120 this month so please register early and only register if you're definitely coming!

Please also note the new start and end time! 6pm - 9pm!

The Venue is the Centre for Creative Collaboration (click for details).

Look forward to seeing you there, as always!

Charly

I'm getting a website programmed and my developers have suggested using .flv format. I know nothing about videos, is this a sensible format to use on my website?

Apologies George. My question is not "is it sensible to host videos on my website" because that would not be compatible with my business model (videos will be viewable behind a firewall). My question was regarding the format of the videos as per the above.

      Thanks for contributing though :)

Sorry heath, I should've known better. But I've been asked the question by so many clients, so I thought it was helpful. Flv not the most widely readable format, and you probably want something mobile supported like m4v. Also see what's happening with h.265

hi everyone. I'm a TV producer and editor who just opened an online streaming business. I'm streaming live concerts online and have previously done sports streams (mainly surfing and sailing).

I'm currently looking for work that keeps me going until my first concerts kick in (which is in late March) at which point I will be looking for loads of people to work with me. I edit on avid and all the post as well as stream software and kit. If anyone knows anything I'd really really appreciate if they could give me a shout. Many, many thanks. Yelli

Great work Charly - a good intro into some of the monetisation options available to publishers looking to carve out a niche for themselves.

Looking forward to it - more importantly however is did I leave my umbrella there?!?!?!?!?!

Thanks for the great feedback guys, please you all had a great night.

To all asking for presentations, if you look on the event page, the speaker names are all hyperlinks to their LinkedIn profiles so that you can contact them directly and ask questions.

I can't make it either but really wanted to. This is very relevant for what we are looking for. Will you be putting up a link of the event being filmed tonight or sharing the presentation?
    Many thanks

Dear all- There is a good chance I might not make this event tonight. My company has developed a brand new live video streaming technology that can support an unlimited number of people and it is not bandwidth heavy. We can save you a lot of money that you might be spending on CDNs, Internal/External communications and Hardware. Feel free to message me if you'd like additional info. We've also created a platform for people to buy and sell services using our video tech and a digital currency

    It's free!

    How much is the event?

    July 2, 2012

  • Jon P.

Charlotte- any chance I could do a short 5-10 min max presentation? Our business and technology fits right into this. We met at the last event. Cheers!
